If you’ve driven on Jefferson Blvd in Playa Vista, you probably missed the brand new super-hip shopping and restaurant complex there called Free Market Playa Vista. A residential/commercial/retail complex, Free Market has a park/playground-like feel but has eateries, boutiques, and shops.
It’s not a huge shopping center, but it’s very modern and well worth checking out, especially on a Saturday morning when the Playa Vista Farmer’s Market is there. It happens every Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM. When we went, there was even some live music, a rarity during COVID.
Most of the complex is outdoors, but there is an indoor section that includes Loqui (Mexican restaurant), and Jeni’s Ice Cream.
There is a huge public parking structure so parking is not a problem.
Overall, we really enjoyed the farmer’s market and exploring this brand-new outdoor shopping and dining concept. It’s still somewhat of a work in progress, with some stores still on the way, but that means it will only get better! – Brian
